This webinar will consider some of the key changes you need to be aware of when preparing 2026 tax returns as well as changes you will need to consider when advising your clients in relation to the 2027 and future income years.

The changes that will impact the 2026 tax year include:

  • Changes to cash basis person thresholds in the financial arrangement rules

Changes that apply from 1 April 2026 include:

  • New tax exemptions for non-resident investors
  • Flow-through GST treatment for unincorporated JVs
  • Extended ability to use tax pooling to pay tax debt from the 2023 and 2024 tax years
  • New discretion for Commissioner of Inland Revenue to write-off interest on student loans

Upon satisfactory completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • articulate the latest tax law changes
  • explain how the changes will impact your client’s 2026 and future tax obligations

Duration: 30 mins plus Q&A (0.5 CPD)
